Ten years after his passing, we look back at the entrepreneur, the co-founder and the person who helped shape DynaFin’s story.
In 2010, in the midst of the financial crisis, Manu De Sousa and his long-time friend had a clear idea: the financial industry needed a different kind of consulting firm.
One that truly understood the sector. One that could turn strategy into action. And above all, one that combined deep expertise with a genuine focus to people.
That conviction gave birth to DynaFin Consulting.
From financial industry expert to entrepreneur
Before co-founding DynaFin, Manu had built his career in financial services, holding management and leadership positions at institutions including Générale de Banque (now BNP Paribas Fortis), Dewaay and Procapital, where he played a key role in launching and developing their Belgian activities.
These experiences gave him an in-depth understanding of the financial industry, its challenges and the changes it was going through.
But Manu was more than a financial services expert. People who worked with him remember his energy, charisma, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to challenge conventional thinking.
He believed consulting must not simply give recommendations but help drive meaningful change across the industry.
Building DynaFin with a different mindset
With DynaFin, Manu and David had the ambition to build a consulting firm where sector expertise, pragmatic advisory and human relationships would go hand in hand.
The goal was to build close relationships with clients, understand their challenges and help them deliver tangible results.
They also wanted to create a company where people could grow, take responsibility and enjoy working together.
As a client once said: “You take your work seriously, but you don’t take yourselves too seriously.”
That sentence captured something essential about DynaFin’s culture.
Behind the informal atmosphere and strong team spirit lay equally high expectations: professional excellence, personal commitment and delivering with high quality.
Manu strongly believed in giving people opportunities, trusting them with responsibilities and supporting them in their development.
It was this belief that expertise matters, that people make the difference and that consulting should create tangible impact that still defines DynaFin today.
A legacy that lives on
Ten years after Manu passed away, on 18 October 2016, much has changed.
DynaFin has grown, expanded its expertise and, since 2017, continued its development as part of Alan Allman Associates.
Yet the principles that inspired its creation remain deeply relevant today: a passion for financial services, a practical understanding of clients’ challenges, high standards of quality and a strong team spirit.
Manu helped build more than a consulting firm. Together with David and the people who joined him in the early years, he established a way of working and a culture that continue to shape DynaFin.
For those who had the opportunity to work with him, Manu’s influence extends far beyond the company’s early years. Even today, he continues to inspire many of those who knew him.
Perhaps that is the most meaningful way to remember him: through the people, the values and the spirit that continue to shape DynaFin today.
One Team, One Dream.
